Cardi B, Rae Sremmurd Are Wearing Wetsuits…On Land

Aug 14, 2023

Fashion, man. Sometimes it don’t make much sense.

But a lot of the time, it’s not so much about feeling good, but rather, looking good. No matter the cost – literally, as in highly priced items, and also in terms of functionality.

And rappers, they love their weird, often questionable fashion trends. See below.

Like Cardi B and Swae Lee (one half of the duo Rae Sremmurd), who both have been recently wearing wetsuits…on land…onstage…for some strange reason.

First, there’s Cardi B, the stripper-turned-rapper from New York, who did a whole photoshoot in a wetsuit.

The comments on a post of the photoshoot from Kook of the Day were as such:

“I’m sweating just thinking about wearing that”

“I can't wrap my mind around voluntarily wearing a wetsuit as fashion.”

“So, this is what WAP is actually about?”

Then, there was Swae Lee, who wore the $3,300 Dior x Vissla collab wetsuit while onstage performing. Yeah, talk about hot and sweaty.

The comments on that one (also reposted by Kook of the Day) went:

“Pretty sure this is what Jack O'Neill had in mind when making his first suits...”

“I just wanta know if he’s a shortboader or longboarder”

“He’s a yeast on the mic”

“Was this at Kookchella?”

Anyone who’s ever worn a wetsuit – for an extended period of time on land, not in the water – will know that it’s a suffocating, claustrophobic hotbox of a garment.

But fashion is fashion. There are sacrifices. And wetsuits (apparently) are in.

Surfing, so hot right now.
